FRC Western Region LGBT+ Network

Supporting Communities, Building Resilience

Regional Event The FRC LGBT+ Western Regional Network would like to invite you to their regional Event on 25TH April in the Radisson Blue Hotel, Northgate St, Athlone, Co. Westmeath. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the Network’s strategic plan and the activities they engage in while also developing your knowledge on the LGBT+ and Trans Communities. The FRC LGBT+ Western Regional Network was established in 2006. Originally comprising of 12 Family Resource Centres and 27 Community Development Projects from the Western Region. The network was supported by the non-profit Support Agency, West Training and Development. Responding to an identified need from parents in the West of Ireland, The Network was established with the aim of providing support to its members to access training, source information and develop collective responses to the needs of local Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender people and has grown to include BeLonG To, AMACH, SHOUT and Youth Work Ireland, Galway. Members of the Network identified three key goals: 1. To make Resource Centres more LGBT+ friendly 2. To bring about change within our own organisations 3. To work toward bringing about change within the broader community. Our first collaborative piece of work was our LGBT+ Code of Practice which was launched by Senator David Norris in Galway on Friday April 11th, 2008.
