Training Courses

Understanding Self-Harm

Understanding Self-Harm training is a one-day interactive training developed by the National Office for Suicide Prevention (NOSP).

This one-day training is designed to raise awareness for individuals and agencies who seek to understand more about self-harm, the reasons underlying self-harm behaviours and improve upon personal and agency responses to those who self-harm.

SafeTALK

SafeTALK is ‘suicide alertness’ training. It is three hours in duration and prepares anyone over the age of 18 to identify persons with thoughts of suicide and connect them to suicide first aid resources. Most people with thoughts of suicide invite help to stay safe. Alert helpers know how to use these opportunities to support that desire for safety.

ASIST

This is a two day (consecutive) intensive, interactive workshop where participants develop their skills through simulations and role-playing in order to become more ready, willing and able to help people at risk of suicide. This course supports the objectives of Connecting for Life: Ireland’s National Strategy to Reduce Suicide (2015-2020) with particular reference to Goal 2 – Empowered Communities which seeks “to support local communities’ capacity to prevent and respond to suicidal behaviour”.
