Mental Health & Menopause

Figures published by RTE indicate that there are 600,000 menopausal women in Ireland today, with 350,000 of those in the workforce, according to research by The Menopause Hub. By 2030, it is estimated that there will be 1.1 billion menopausal women on the plan.

According to gov.ie less than 20% of women experiencing menopause or perimenopause today describe it as a positive experience, and most people (82%) agree that menopause is not openly discussed.

Because menopause can affect the mental health and wellbeing of those experiencing it, Mental Health Ireland coproduced this booklet, Menopause and Mental Health, in response to the need for more information on this topic. This booklet provides information, tips, and signposting, as well as the real experiences of people who have been affected by menopause.
