Deirdre works within the Ballyspillane Community & Family Resource Centre, which covers the South Kerry Region. This catchment area includes Killarney Town & Municipal district areas, incorporating Ballyspillane & Ballydribeen Estates, Muckross, Kilcummin, Ballyhar, Castlemaine, East Killarney, Glenflesk, Headford, Barraduff, Rathmore, Gneeveguilla and Killorglin.
Deirdre has always believed that we are more than just our physical health and needs; we should also look at ourselves holistically from a physically, emotionally, socially, mentally, and spiritually perspective. She believes in the power of connection and that coming together can help achieve a full, meaningful, whole, and happy life.

I have always been passionate about helping people, and with my background in General Nursing and Art Psychotherapy, I have had the privilege to support many people through their journey of medical and emotional needs. I have always wanted to empower people to take action to improve their own health and wellbeing, and trust that connections with others can help ease feelings of isolation and depression. I believe social connections matter, as they have a number of mental health benefits, such as boosting mood, reducing stress, building confidence and improving self-esteem. To me, Social Prescribing allows individuals to take control of their lives, find what brings them joy and contentment, and help them realise their own solutions. My role is to support their goals and help them navigate their way to a more complete and happier life, by building connections within the community, and getting involved in activities and services they wish to try.
